Absolute design classic. Pure modern style with a distinct 1970's flavour. Designed by "André Ricard":http://www.andrericard.com/ for Gaggia Espanola in 1972. This rare "Mini" Gaggia espresso machine has a wonderful slim lined design, bare minimalism with a little 70's 'glam'. The light brushed metal and bright plastic case contrast well against the heavy chromed portafilter, piston lever and solid black Bakelite handles. The portafilter is solid and heavy, just like a professional machine, with a large 58mm stainless steel filter basket.
The rare early model on offer here shows only the lightest signs of use, there are a few marks here on the plastic shell, and on the brushed steel. However as you can see in the images the overall condition is excellent and there is no damage at all.
This espresso machine has been completely restored with brand new high quality seals on the main piston and in the group head. The new piston seal is perfect, watertight at high pressure, with a smooth action. The machine has been cleaned inside and out. It is tested and working perfectly- as you can see from the photos it can easily produce a very fine shot of pure espresso with thick rich crema. This espresso machine is perfect for the lover of great design and fine black coffee! No fancy milk frother here, just perfect espresso every time.
Simply fill the machine with water and allow to heat (heat time 3 to 5 minutes). Pack and tamp the filter basket (with finely ground fresh coffee) and lock the portafilter into the machine. When the water reaches the correct brewing temperature (92-94c) the thermostat shuts out and the heat light goes out. Now you simply push down the lever, holding it down for 10-15 seconds for pre-infusion, then release the lever. A powerful spring forces it back up and squeezes out a shot of espresso. By 'helping' the lever return to the upright position and varying the grind or tamp the user can obtain a great deal of control over the brewing process.
This machine is 220 volts- and fitted with an Australian 3 pin plug.
