For the first half of the 20th Century the Coffee Percolator surely reigned supreme- this is how virtually everyone made their morning coffee. This machine hails from the latter half of the century- perhaps the 1970’s? As you can see it is in New condition and has a lovely modern style. There are no signs of any use at all- and the enamel finish is spotless and clean. The pot is complete with its all its inner parts: coffee basket, lid, glass bubble. Very good quality manufacture- this machine was actually made in Australia.

Percolators are super simple to use- you just fill the inner basket with coarse fresh ground coffee. You fill the pot with water and place on a moderate heat on the stove. As the water boils it is forced up to the top of the machine from where it drips down through the coffee grounds. As the brew develops you can see what is happening in the little glass bubble at the top.

Contrary to popular opinion percolators can make very good coffee. The trick is keeping the heat low once the machine starts to percolate, and stopping the brew before it becomes too strong and bitter. This is the perfect camping/travel coffee maker- whip up 6 cups of fresh coffee in minutes.
